Using Your Expectations to Build Mental Toughness

People these days get their boxers in a wad at the slightest and most insignificant things. Then there are other people who lived through the invasion of Normandy or survived POW camps and never lost their inner happiness.

Let me tell you what the difference is. Expectations. If you expect life to be easy, you’re going to be depressed when it’s hard. If you expect life to be difficult, you won’t be disappointed when it’s tough. If you expect life to be tough as hell, you become tough as hell. If you expect life to be a cupcake, you’re the one who becomes a cupcake. It’s that simple. Recalibrating your expectations is the first step to developing real toughness.
